Merry Christmas, one and all! We’ve a wonderful bag of presents for every ESL/EFL lesson or home class. Santa has put together two sets of Christmas flashcards in a range of sizes and styles. And for even more Christmas cheer we have Christmas game cards, word searches, a snake race game and ten different Christmas BINGO cards.
Here’s a list of words that are in these two free flashcards download packs:
Set 1: a Christmas tree, Santa Claus, a reindeer, a star, presents, a candy cane, a snowman, an elf
Set 2: pie, cookies, an ornament, Christmas lights, bell, a stocking, toys, holly
Everyone loves BINGO, and with 10 different cards in the set, they’re great for small to medium-sized classes. For bigger classes, we like to have students circle 4 (or 5) of their favorite words and play BINGO as usual. If all the circled words are called, then the students can say “BINGO” even if their words aren’t in a line.
Snake Race is our original game similar to Snakes and Ladders, but easier. It’s great for lower-level students in ESL classes, and you only need dice and place markers (like erasers or magnets). Just roll the dice, count as you move along the snake, and say the word you land on. If you’re lucky and land on a “Roll again” spot, you can try one more time. But if you’re unlucky, you might have to go back a couple of spaces. If your students are confident speakers, they can practice conversations by asking origial questions based on the words they land on.
